Verse:
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
What it reveals:
The Lord makes a way for us, even when it seems there is no way. Because He is our light, we can find Him even in the darkness, and because He is our salvation, we can be saved, healed, and found that even when it doesn't appear possible. This truth allows us to have no fear because our God overcomes, and as His children, we shall overcome also.
I think about all of the losses I experienced. I remember how I felt in those moments versus how I felt afterward. After the trial was over, it was no longer an interrupter on my journey but now a significant director. By leaning onto the words of Psalm 27, I found hope. Hope that my most challenging days were only making way for God's light to show up even more powerfully. The light that shines in dark places penetrates more deeply than in already lit areas. And if His light is powerful against the darkness, it would be much wiser to look to Him than stay hidden and afraid in the darkness. His light calls us and pulls out of the darkness, and we should remember that God is our mighty defender.
He will continue to be our mighty defender (Stronghold: a strong defense) in every area of our lives as we continue to make Him our stronghold.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for Your light and salvation. Thank you for being the stronghold of my life. As David prayed, I pray today that I would continuously have you as my great defender and that your light will never dim in my life. As my salvation remains intact, may I remain unafraid. Thank you, Lord, because, through you, I will overcome. In Your name, I pray, Amen.
